Chuck Klous, President

Chuck is the co-founder of Indoor Track Delaware and a longtime Track enthusiast.  Chuck’s involvement in Track and field started as a participant in Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM) Track in Wilmington.  He attended Salesianum School where he was a state champion pole vaulter and a member of multiple all state track teams.  As an adult, Chuck founded the St. Ann’s track team in Wilmington and coached for more than a decade winning CYM championships in both boys and girls divisions.  Chuck is married with 4 Children all of whom are accomplished high school and/or college track athletes.  His twin sons, Charlie and Patrick were all-state track athletes at Salesianum school before moving on to the track team at LSU.  His two younger children, Jane and Matty are both accomplished high school pole vaulters

Anthuan Maybank, Vice President

Anthuan is Olympic Track and field gold medalist and World Champion Anthuan Maybank’s mantra is “There is a champion in each of us.” His drive, adaptability and greatest strength lies in his ability to motivate those around him to achieve goals while overcoming adversity.  While completing his undergraduate degree from The University of Iowa, Anthuan was the only man to break both the 27-foot barrier in the long jump and the sub-45-second barrier in the 400 meter dash. Maybank’s personal and professional goals now are to help individuals and communities through his company Champion BODY (Building Outgoing Dynamic Youth), a program to motivate youth and adults while fostering lifestyle changes. Through his company, Maybank has worked with The City of Wilmington, Barclays Bank, Summer Collab, Strive and John Hopkins Center for American Indian Health. Presently, Maybank coaches Tatnall School’s sprinters.. Ray Blackwell

Dr. Ray Blackwell

Dr. Blackwell is currently the Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Christiana Care. He competed at Dartmouth College where held the school record for the 500m run. He later competed for Greater Boston Track Club, Commonwealth Athletic Club, Central Park Track Club, New Balance Track Club and North Carolina Pioneers Track Club.  He remains active in age group competition. He has won multiple Delaware Senior Olympic titles and one National Senior Olympic title.  At one time, he held six age group American and World Records. In addition to many national age group championships, he has also won two World Championships.

Greg Wilson, Director of Community Outreach

Greg, co-founder of Indoor Track Delaware, has worked as a fair lending advocate, community organizer, and communications consultant in the Diamond State and the northeast corridor since 2010. From managing the statewide media campaign for payday lending reform in 2012, to organizing with Ellendale community and faith-based groups for clean water in 2018; Wilson’s efforts emphasized coalition building and community engagement. More recently, he coordinated a convening of Delaware stakeholders from the private and nonprofit sectors; state, local and municipal governments; to discuss social determinants of health and community reinvestment in Wilmington. A graduate of Alexis I Dupont High School and the University of Delaware, Wilson has competed in 5 triathlons, and two Marine Corps Marathons with a personal best of 3:16.

Susan Thomas, Secretary

Susan Thomas is a Level 2 Certified USA Track & Field coach with over 20 years of experience in leveraging entrepreneurial skills to grow sports programs exponentially. She has coached multiple age-group national champions, 2 Delaware state champions, but, more importantly, considers herself a lifelong advocate for holistic youth sport development. Susan was a George Mason University track athlete, competing in the multi-events and the 4x400 relay. She attended Western high school in Baltimore and was the city’s 800 meter/high jump champion along with being a member of the school’s championship swimming and x-country teams. Susan most recently served as Director of Athletics/Head Track Coach at Serviam Girls Academy where she was responsible for creating innovative sports programming. Susan is a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Education Entrepreneurship program and is currently developing a philanthropy venture that supports the holistic needs of young women and girls.

Jim Fischer

Coach Jim Fischer has a track record of success in coaching Track and field that spans 50 years.  Jim is best known in track circles as the University of Delaware Cross Country Track and Field coach for over 30 years.  Jim also coached on the college level at Del Tech and at Sanford at the high school level.  He is currently the Cross Country and Track and Field teams at Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, DE.  Jim is the founder and former President of the Delaware Track and Field Hall of Fame and himself is a member of six different athletic Halls of fame.  Coach Fischer is a native of Minnesota and a graduate of Augsburg University and the University of Minnesota.  He currently resides in Wilmington, DE.

Dr. Stefanie Scalessa Whitby

Stefanie was a 20 year track & field coach at the high school and college level. From Wilmington DE she competed for Padua Academy and later Villanova University where she contributed to the team in the 400-hudlers. She coached high school at Notre Dame Academy (Radnor, PA) and Ursuline (Wilmington, DE). Stefanie began coaching on the college level at the University of Delaware and then to Monmouth University as an Assistant working with specialties including hurdles, jumps and multi-event athletes. She became the Head Men’s & Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country Coach at Temple University. Stefanie is currently the Assistant Vice President of Alumni Relations and Development and the Director of Athletics at Wilmington University.

Tim Bamforth

Tim is the long-time coach of the Cape Henlopen Track & Field Teams, where he has guided the Vikings to three state championship titles.  Tim is a resident of Lewes where he has taught at Shields Elementary School for the past 29 years.  Tim is also the coach the Seashore Strider youth cross country team, and the Rehoboth Beach Recreation Director for the past 25 years.  He writes a weekly Running & Racing column in the Cape Gazette.  Tim is the owner of an event production company - Seashore Strider Event Production.  Tim is a graduate of Delaware State University (1990) and Concordia University Irvine.  Tim was a star runner at Cape Henlopen where he won 4 state titles and 6 conference titles.   At DSU Tim won 4 MEAC Team Championships and was named All-Conference in XC & TF in 1990.  In 2015 he was inducted into the DSU Sports Hall of Fame.

Mike Monagle, Treasurer

Michael is a Delaware native and a longtime leader and coach in the local running community. Mike found the love of running competing in cross country at Salesianum. Later, he was a walk-on for Track and Field team at Villanova University. After serving his career as a US Naval aviator, Mike came home to open the Delaware Running Company, a specialty retail store chain that has been open for more than 18 years. Mike resides in Wilmington and with his wife Trudy have two daughters,  He is the former president of Girls on the Run Delaware and VP of Running for Delaware Sports Club.

MaryPat Kwoka

MaryPat Kwoka is a true Delawarean, as she was born, raised, and lived her whole life in the Diamond State. A graduate of St. Mark’s High School and Wilmington University, Kwoka holds a Bachelors in accounting, and Masters degree in Healthcare Administration. At Wilmington U she played volleyball, basketball, and softball. MaryPat received Wilmington University's President’s Award, which recognized her commitment to service, scholastic achievement, outstanding character, and leadership.

She has coached three sports over the last 30 years (volleyball, basketball, and softball) at high schools and colleges in Delaware. Presently, Coach Kwoka is the proud Head Volleyball Coach at Delaware Military Academy (DMA). Coach Kwoka has led three different high school teams to the volleyball state Finals Four nine times; two Final Four finishes, eight trips to the Finals with two Championship titles.

Recently, Kwoka was inducted into Delaware State University Diamond Extravaganza. MaryPat is a Club Director and Coach at Premier Volleyball. Kwoka believes a Delaware facility would make the club experience even better!

Chuck Durante

Chuck Durante has covered Delaware high school cross country and track over five decades for The Philadelphia Inquirer, Delaware State News, Wilmington News-Journal and other periodicals. He is president of the Delaware Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association and an officer of the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame. A partner in the law firm of Connolly Gallagher LLP, he is vice president at large of the Delaware State Bar Association and chairman of the board of editors of Delaware Lawyer magazine. A varsity two-miler at Tower Hill School and Haverford College, he was inducted into the Delaware Track and Field Hall of Fame in 2011.

Mike Querey

Mike Querey is a native of North Wilmington, where he ran his first CYM race as a first grader. Mike ran four years at Salesianum and four years at the University of Delaware. Mike had a streak of running the Penn Relays nine years in a row (1986-1994). After graduating from UD Mike was a member of the Rehoboth Beach Patrol 1990 National Championship soft sand relay team. Querey has run two marathons, Delaware and New York City. He coached Track at IHM for eight years while his children, Matt and Julia were running CYM track. Matt graduated from Salesianum  and Julia is a Junior at Padua where she runs track. Mike met his wife, Jill, at the University of Delaware where she was a sprinter on the Women’s Track. Mike is also the Salesianum Alumni President a Trustee.

Vic Leonard

Vic Leonard is an inductee to the Delaware Wrestling Hall of Fame, former Delaware State Coach of the Year and founder of Beast of the East National Wrestling Tournament. Leonard was a wrestling official for close to 20 years, and a member and past president of the DE Wrestling Officials Association. A retired educator from Alexis I. duPont High School, for eight years Leonard was the head wrestling coach at AI DuPont HS. Vic is the past president of the DE Wrestling Coaches Association, State Representative to the National Wrestling Coaches Association and a member of the DIAA State Wrestling Committee; board member of DE Wrestling Alliance (DWA) and past executive director of Wrestlers in Business - DE Chapter (WIBN-DE). At the University of Delaware Leonard wrestled four years varsity. A graduate of William Penn High School, Vic was a three sport athlete in football, wrestling and baseball. Leonard is also the co-Founder/CEO of Just Mentoring, Inc (a 501 c3 nonprofit) and a primary proponent of girls wrestling in Delaware.

Kia Maull

Kai Maull is an inductee into the Delaware Track & Field Hall of Fame, and a former high school All-American long jumper from Cape Henlopen High School, where also won several state titles in sprinting events. In high school, in the long jump, Maull was crowned AAU Junior National Champion, East Coast Champion, Penn Relays Champion and National Scholastic Outdoor National Champion.

In college, Kai was All Conference Atlantic Coast Conference and an All-American long jumper from Clemson University, eclipsing the 25 foot mark, and holding the school long jump record for several years. Maull has coached for 10+ years in Delaware. He has coached with Delaware Track ELITE, and Cape Henlopen, St. Georges Tech and William Penn high schools. He currently serves as XC Head Coach at Early College School at Delaware State University. Most recently, Kai played a key role in working with other Clemson alumni on the #SAVECLEMSONXCTF initiative to bring back Men’s Track and Cross Country to Clemson University.

James Solomon

James Solomon has coached track and field for 31 years, and over that time, has won 14 state titles in indoor and outdoor girls & boys track & field. Solomon is a four time National Coach of the Year representative from Delaware and an inductee into the Delaware Afro-American Sports Hall of Fame. Coach Solomon obtained undergraduate and graduate degrees from Delaware State University. As track athlete at Dover High School, Solomon held the state record in the Long Jump. A retired social studies teacher for the Capital School District, Solomon has been married for 27 year to his lovely wife Robin Hand Solomon, and has 4 daughters.
